Work Experience

As part of the school's careers and employability programme, year 10 students will be undertaking a week's block placement between Monday, 27th April to Friday, 1st May 2026.

Students are required to source their own work experience placements; however, advice and guidance is available to support this process. All placements will be vetted and documentation checked before final approval.

Work experience was launched to students and parents’ week beginning 20th October 2025. Information has been shared via an assembly, tutor activities and emails to parents. To help manage the process and support students, work experience information and processes are being shared in a staggered format. Please see below for an outline.

Week Beginning 20th October 2025

Part 1- Initial launch and careers research tasks. Brief overview of the process and timescales. Part 1 of the student guide is shared. Tutor activities undertaken to discuss expectations and support finding placements.

Week Beginning 17th November 2025

Part 2- Detailed overview of the approval process, including the placement vetting system and timeline. Part 2 of the student guide is shared. Continuation of tutor activities and dedicated time in a computer room.

A parent information session about all aspects of work experience will be available on Thursday 13th November at 6pm.

October 2025

  • Student Launch
  • Student support packs- Part 1 issued
  • Start to conduct your research- Identify career sectors of interest and local companies

November 2025

  • Parent Launch 
  • Actively contacting employers & making enquiries- Use the support pack for examples of emails & phone conversations.
  • Tutor support activities
  • Student Support Packs- Part 2 issued, with assembly on the vetting process.
  • Students can begin to add placement details to Unifrog if secured

30th January 2026

Secured a placement and submitted the details on Unifrog, (Placement tool) – this triggers health & safety checks to start.

February/ March On-going notification of placement approval (Employer and Parents)—Via Email/Unifrog

W/B 13th April 2026

Contact the placement provider again to remind them you will be joining soon. Double-check key information to ensure it has not changed, e.g. start/finish times, arrival on the first day, dress code, lunch arrangements, etc.

W/B 27th April 2026

Undertake placement & Complete logbook.

W/B 4th May 2026

Review placement and update your CV.
