Strongest Ever GCSE Results For Ash Green School
Students and staff at Ash Green School are celebrating a record-breaking set of provisional GCSE results, with the school's strongest-ever outcomes reflecting years of sustained improvement and the determination of its Year 11 cohort.
Provisional results show that the proportion of grades awarded at 7 and above has risen from 14% in 2025 to 23% in 2026. Strong passes at grade 5 and above have also increased, rising from 50% to 59%, well above the 2025 national average of 45.4%, while grades at 4 and above have risen from 68% to 74% (compared with the 2025 national average of 65%).
Following its most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025, the school was recognised as Good in Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Sixth Form provision.
These record outcomes mark the culmination of a significant transformation at Ash Green School under the leadership of Principal Fuzel Choudhury. Since taking the helm, Mr Choudhury has led an uncompromising drive to raise expectations, strengthen behaviour and attendance, improve the quality of teaching, and establish a culture where every student is expected and supported to succeed. The school's strongest-ever GCSE results provide powerful evidence of the impact of that vision, with Ash Green now firmly established as a school on an upward trajectory and delivering outcomes that place it well above national averages in key measures.
Students performed particularly strongly in the sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics along with Maths and English as the school’s strongest-performing academic subjects. Students also secured high grades across humanities, creative subjects and vocational qualifications.
Among those celebrating outstanding results was Gracie Pegg, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and one Level 2 Distinction*. Jakub Smusz also achieved an exceptional set of results, securing five grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7, one grade 6 and one Level 2 Distinction*.
Other high-achieving students included Karina Greenwood, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s, and Parneet Kaur, who achieved three grade 9s (including an incredible full marks on both of her English Literature papers), two grade 8s, two grade 7s and two Level 2 Distinction* grades.
The results follow a sustained programme of support throughout Year 11, with students taking part in regular revision sessions, targeted intervention and the school’s Edgmond Hall residential, designed to build confidence, resilience and independence. Families were also closely involved through information evenings, mentoring and revision workshops, helping create a strong partnership between home and school.
Fuzel Choudhury, Principal of Ash Green School, said:
“Congratulations to our Year 11 students. I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved and, even more importantly, of the resilience, maturity and ambition they have shown throughout their GCSE journey.
“These provisional results reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff and the support of families who have worked closely with us throughout the year.
“Ash Green is a school with high expectations and a strong sense of community. We are continuing to improve, and these results show what can be achieved when students, staff and families work together.
“We are excited to see our students take their next steps and we know they have very bright futures ahead.”
