Welcome to the Ash Green School Physical Education Department.
This is a place for upcoming fixtures, results and news from our sports teams, information about the department and upcoming events! Also a place to share the amazing things our students do!
Ash Green School PE Department has five dedicated members of staff; of which there are currently three male and three females, all of whom bring a wealth of sporting knowledge and experience to the department.
The physical education curriculum here at Ash Green School offers a comprehensive range of experiences to meet the needs of each student. ‘Traditional’ sports are complimented by a range of exciting new sports designed to excite and encourage all AGS students to get physically active.
We encourage all students to develop and improve their skill level irrespective of their abilities and to establish a positive self-esteem towards themselves as performer, coach and official. The department believes that sport and physical activity plays a major role in life and as such, encourages the students to follow a healthy and active lifestyle.
The PE department is a department where every student can progress and reach their potential, meaning that all students are given every opportunity to succeed both in and out of the classroom here at Ash Green School.
Students have access to a wide variety of extra-curricular activities that enhance and compliment their learning experiences in lessons. Many of our extra-curricular clubs are supported by fully qualified coaches from outside AGS, linking our school to a number of local sports clubs at which our students can go and continue their sporting journey outside of the school environment. We also encourage our non-PE staff, Sports Leaders and 6th Form Students to take an active role in leading and supporting extra-curricular clubs.
The department also organise a number of trips – most notably an annual trip to Wimbledon for the tennis championships, sports tours to Barcelona and Italy, skiing trips to Austria and Outdoor Education visits to the Brecon Beacons.
