2016/17 GCSE Exam Results

Pupils and staff at Ash Green School in Coventry were celebrating today as the Department for Education released the latest GCSE data. The school, part of the Creative Education Trust, saw the overall pupil body achieve some of the school’s best ever results, with a number of pupils achieving the top grades in the country.

For the first-time students received GCSEs graded on a new scale of 9 to 1, with 9 the highest grade, rather than A* to G in reformed, more challenging, English language, English literature and Maths qualifications.

Despite the increased challenge of the new GCSE’s, 59% of Ash Green pupils achieved a grade 4 or better in English & Maths.

In total, 51% of all students at Ash Green achieved a grade 5 or better in English and 41% in Maths, with more than a third of all students achieving a grade 5 or better in

Three Ash Green pupils achieved Grade 9 in either English or Mathematics placing them amongst the highest performing students in the country – an extraordinary achievement.

“Congratulations to our students who have worked extraordinarily hard, every day, to make their success a reality. These results are a testament to the incredible young people of Ash Green School.

Whilst much emphasis is placed on the performance of mathematics and English, there were also some extraordinary results in non-core subjects. My thanks go to all staff for their hard work and on-going commitment.

We are looking forward to welcoming many of our successful students back to Ash Green Sixth Form in September to start the next stage in their education”
